1 Using Facebook Pages to Increase Brand Awareness for Your Private Practice

One approach to increase brand awareness and credibility for your private practice is using Facebook. Most people already have a personal profile page...think TWO BILLION users per month. Lots of people turn to Facebook to not only see what friends are up to, but to also learn about events, research businesses, shop, and more. Nowadays, people expect businesses to be on Facebook too.

Facebook has  Pages for businesses. Pages helps people discover your business because it is a public forum that shows up in a search. There is a desktop and a mobile application available for those who are on the go or in their home office. When you’ve networked in the past, try to think about questions people asked, “Do you have a website, or are you on Facebook?” Pages will check both boxes for you.

When developing your page in Pages, fill out the profile section, upload a headshot photo-remember this is for business so keep it PG. When writing your content, speak to your “ideal client”. This will make your message clear, concise, and connected. Keep in mind that you can create tabs which allows you to use them to highlight sections or use as a landing page. Use your email list to invite people to like and follow your page. Increase your visibility and build an audience to build brand awareness and credibility for your private practice.

Another great aspect of Pages, and one of my favorites, is that you can use the post scheduler through the Publishing Tools tab on the left side of your page. This way, you can schedule your posts to specific days in advance. This is a time saver and more productive way to set-up content for multiple days or weeks, depending on your preference. This allows you to market in a timely fashion, reach more people consistently, and spend more time doing what you love...working with your clients.

Additionally, Pages solves the issue of blending your personal with your professional life. Much like adding friends to your personal profile, you control who can see your landing page versus your personal page. When navigating the world of private practice and social media, we are expected to be ethical and meet our industry standards. Pages helps professionals meet standards by separating personal content from our professional circles.

Facebook Pages allows you to broadcast news about your company, workshops, telehealth, deals or promotional information, and since it’s public, it will show up in web searches. A great and not to mention FREE way to promote your business and help to create credibility with your growing audience.

2 Using Facebook Groups to Increase Credibility

Another great tool to utilize is Facebook Groups. Groups is just what it says, groups of people with similar interests or business. It’s your own community of people within the same field or interests. Groups allow members to engage in group chats and gives an audience more of a community feel. It allows people to share helpful information via conversation, text files, articles or other pages to businesses with similar interests.

Groups tend to be less promotional and more collaborative. Engage. Respond to posts, post questions, share articles, etc. Build relationships. Again, building brand awareness and credibility requires consistent engagement with audiences to share your expertise, passion, and provide support where you can.

When looking to join a group or groups, look for groups that are engaging recently and often. I recommend starting with only a few, remember you’ll have to engage in these groups to get the most out of them, so keep in mind the amount of time you have available. Once you feel comfortable with your available time and engagement, you can add more groups later on.

You can also set-up your own group for others to join. Determine group name, identify themes for posts, like Feel Good Fridays. Set-up your group to be public or closed and post consistently to engage your audience.

Here’s the best thing about both of these options. It’s not an “either-or” statement. You can take on Pages and Groups when you have the time to set-up one or the other. Don’t stress, take the time to research your potential groups or page. Remember that taking the time to set-up on the front-end means less time on the back-end. Once you’re set-up, it just takes effort to engage which will translate to increased brand awareness and credibility for YOU. Don’t you want to take advantage of that?! Now go get creative. Hope to see your posts and responses!
